Fish of Goa
A collection of original hand paintings celebrating the fish that are an inseparable part of Goa’s coast, markets and culinary culture.
Painted by veteran Goan artist Prof. Halankar, an alumnus of the Sir J.J. School of Applied Art, Mumbai, the series documents familiar local varieties.
Goan by origin, Prof. Halankar’s work has long drawn from the architecture, people, traditions and everyday life of Goa.
The collection includes Shevto, Goa’s State Fish, along with Pomfret, Sondale, Kokker, Palu and other varieties locally known and found along the Goan coast.
Each work is an original hand painting, making every piece individually painted rather than a print or reproduction.
