Local Produce of Goa — Original Hand-Painted Art

A celebration of the fruits, flowers, leaves and produce that have long been part of everyday life in Goa.

This series of original hand-painted artworks brings together familiar treasures of the Goan soil — The GI tageed battu red chilles, Mankurad mangoes, cashew fruit, betel nuts, star fruit, red amaranth, coconuts and other seasonal local produce, alongside flowers closely associated with Goa, including the much-loved Aaboli, the rare Hato, Vovra and other indigenous blooms.

Some grew in backyards and kitchen gardens, some appeared seasonally in village markets, while others were woven into flowers for the hair, used during festivals or  became part of the visual memory of growing up in Goa.

Through these paintings, the collection documents these small but distinctive elements of Goa — its soil, seasons, gardens and local abundance, preserving them through original hand-painted art.

Each artwork is created by veteran Goan artist Prof. Halankar, an alumnus and ex-professor of the J.J. School of Applied Art, Mumbai, and a part of our studio since its inception in early 2020.
